Monarch Money is a personal-finance app: it links your bank and card accounts and budgets everything you spend. GroceryTrack does one thing, groceries, and works from your receipts instead of your bank feed. They answer different questions, and plenty of people use both.
Pick GroceryTrack if the question is what you buy at the grocery store: which items, which grocery categories, which store charges more, and why the bill went up. Monarch can read a receipt’s line items too, and uses them to split a transaction across its budget categories. GroceryTrack keeps every item as grocery history: per-item price changes, store comparisons and your own grocery inflation rate, and it never asks for your bank login. It also costs less.
Pick Monarch Money if you want all of your money in one place: every account, bills, investments and net worth, with a budget across everything you spend. GroceryTrack doesn’t try to do that. If you already use Monarch, GroceryTrack can sit beside it and fill in what’s inside the grocery line.
GroceryTrack from its own app; Monarch Money from monarch.com, its pricing page, its help center and its July 2026 product update, checked in November 2026. “Not advertised” means we couldn’t find it there, not that it can’t exist.

Items as history, not just splits. Monarch can split a scanned receipt into its budget categories. GroceryTrack keeps every item over time, so it can tell you that your coffee went up 7% this year and which store charges least for it.
Your own grocery inflation. The national number says groceries rose 1.8% in the year to September 2026, but your rate depends on what you buy. Ask the GroceryTrack connector in Claude or ChatGPT and it computes your rate from the items you actually bought. See what actually got more expensive in 2026.
No bank login, ever. GroceryTrack works from receipts you scan or forward, so it never asks for bank credentials.
Every Apple device. The iOS app is native on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with an Apple Watch app that shows this month’s spending against your budget.
